VIDEO: Bukom Boxing Arena Building Posses Danger
The Bukom Boxing Arena has become a death trap as parts of the structure suffer cracks.
A video uploaded on YouTube by local journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai of Kwesé Free Sports and ESPN Africa revealed a major crack on parts of the Arena, especially the pillar directly opposite the conference hall that could pose danger to boxing fans and other users of the facility.
The facility, the first ever Boxing Arena in the country since independence handed Ghanaian boxing and others sport disciplines a massive boost with its inauguration by former President John Dramani Mahama in November 2016.
With about 5,000 seats, the arena has hosted several boxing bouts including Isaac Dogboe’s famous interim world title success over Cesar Juarez which set him up for a world title against Jessie Magdaleno.
1000s of fans and dignitaries have also graced it to watch other fights involving Richard Commey, Duke Micah, Emmanuel Tagoe and Braimah Kamogo’s first ever defeat in his career to Samir Bastie.
The Arena is just two years old and the current features does augur well for the safety of Ghanaians who grace the arena to watch boxing and other concerts.
